Fransk kopparstickare. Han lär ha skapat uppemot 1200 kartor, stadsplaner och liknande arbeten, bl a. för d'Anville (se denne) och Robert de Vaugondy.

1698-1764. Född i Aarhus, död i Köpenhamn.
Dansk-norsk teolog och författare. 1716 började han studera och tog en teologisk examen 1718. Verkade senare som lärare och präst i ett antal städer. 1740 blev han professor i teologi vid universitetet i Köpenhamn, 1747 biskop i Bergen och 1755 prokansler vid universitetet. Av hans omfångsrika författarskap nämns här endast 'Det förste Forsög paa Norges naturlige Historie' i två band (1752-53), rikt illustrerat med bilder och naturhistoriska figurer. Detta verk kom även i en tysk och en engelsk utgåva.

In 1748, published a revised edition of Johan Månsson's classic book on Baltic shipping, under the title Johan Månsson 's revived ashes, or renewed sea markings book. .. with the addition of Shipping channels along the Kattegat and the Skagerrak (Johan Månssons uplifwade aska, eller des förnyade Sjömärkesbok... Jean le Pautre (June 28, 1618 – February 2, 1682) was a French designer and engraver. Le Pautre was an apprentice to a carpenter and builder. In addition to learning mechanical and constructive work, he developed considerable skill with the pencil. His designs, innumerable in quantity and exuberant in content, consisted mainly of ceilings, friezes, chimney-pieces, doorways and mural decorations. He also devised fire-dogs, sideboards, cabinets, console tables, mirrors and other pieces of furniture.

Le Pautre was long employed at the Gobelins manufactory. His work is often very flamboyant and elaborate. He frequently used amorini and swags, arabesques and cartouches in his work. His chimney-pieces, in contrast, were often simple and elegant. His engraved plates, nearly 1,500 in number, are almost entirely original and include a portrait of himself. He made many designs for Andre Charles Boulle.
He became a member of the academy of Paris in 1677.
